Kirstie and Caleb celebrated their love in a whimsical ridgetop chapel ceremony. They chose the most beautiful, quaint historic stone church overlooking the Shawangunk Ridge. The location features both stunning views and incredible architecture. It is the perfect spot for the beginning of a fairy tale romance!
They loved the character and history behind the chapel, so I tried my best to capture that for them! The church was built of the stone from the mountain it sits upon and is at an altitude of 200 feet. It is gothic-styled, with ornate stained glass and strong mahogany doors. The ambiance the church creates is other-worldly and allowed us to get some really incredible portraits in the sanctuary. The view of the valley ridge beyond the church is mesmerizing, and there were even bald eagles circling! Talk about a magical feel!
The most important part of their day was sharing it in an intimate setting with immediate family and close friends. They were surrounded by all of the people who are closest to them, and it was such a special time to be supported by all those who are most important to Kirstie and Caleb. Their micro wedding felt really intimate, and they chose the perfect location for their celebration.
It was freezing on the day of their wedding, with a high of 20 degrees and wind. Even with some snow patches still on the ground, Kirstie and Caleb braved the weather for some outdoor portraits, and I am so glad they did! The architecture of the church is so unique and beautiful. There is also a stone arch on the property overlooking the valley. We were able to get some really great shots of them under the arch and on the ridge above the valley.
Once they had enough of the frigid weather, we headed inside for some more portraits. The lighting in the church was unbelievable and gave us some moody captures. It certainly didn’t hurt that the couple was so photogenic! The vibe with the lighting, stone walls, dark pews, and Kirstie’s dress gave us some of the best photos of the day! It was the perfect way to end their whimsical ridgetop wedding. I loved capturing the memories they created together and am honored to be a part of this fairy tale of a day!
